LIVE! Sibal on AK Ganguly: SC must not be seen as washing its hands off the matter

Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal takes on retired Supreme Court judge Justice AK Ganguly. Sibal said the Supreme Court must not be seen as washing its hands off the matter.

The Delhi Police has written to the Supreme Court law intern who had accused the retired Supreme Court judge of sexual harassment. The police have sought an appointment with her to speak to her on this issue.

This comes a day after the Supreme Court panel found prima facie evidence of sexual harassment against Justice AK Ganguly. The three-judge committee of the Supreme Court has indicted Ganguly of committing an "act of unwelcome behaviour" and "conduct of sexual nature" towards the woman law intern.

However, the panel has closed further proceedings saying it can do little against a retired judge.

The panel does not even recommend action against Justice Ganguly because it believes that the intern in question who has complained against Justice Ganguly was not on the rolls of the SC and even Justice Ganguly on the date of the incident was not a judge of the SC.
