BJP demands death penalty for Mumbai gang-rape accused

A strident Sushma Swaraj demands the death penalty for all five accused in the Mumbai gang rape and demands a time frame for the proceedings to be expedited.

Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde assures the house that the case will be heard in a fast-track court and medical and forensic examinations are complete. He says there is no provision for death penalty for rape, but the government will push for maximum punishment -- 20 years to life term.
