It's official: Cong toes DMK line, PM won't attend CHOGM meet in Colombo

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will not be attending the CHOGM meet in Colombo this November. A final decision has was taken at the Congress Core Committee meeting recently and was informally communicated to the DMK and other political parties.

The PM will be writing to Chief Minister Jayalalitha shortly indicating that the India will be represented by Foreign Secretary Sujata Singh. This is bound to draw the DMK closer to the Congress in the lead up to the polls next year.
