LIVE! Speculation ends: Lok Sabha polls in March 2014

You read it here first. Reliable sources in New Delhi tell us that there will not be early Lok Sabha polls. Speculation was rife that India would go to the polls this year instead of 2014.

The Election Commission is now in the final stages of an exercise to announce five assembly poll dates. What this means is that the EC is not ready to hold the LS polls as well in 2013.

So, the EC will declare the dates of the five assembly polls -- Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Manipur -- by September.

Even if the Lok Sabha is dissolved in October, the polls for the Lok Sabha will be held in March 2014.
