Nehru permitted CIA spy planes to use Indian air base

India allowed the US to use one of its air bases for refuelling the CIA's U-2 spy planes to target Chinese territories after its defeat in the 1962 war, adeclassified official document said today.   

The then Indian Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru approved overflight by U-2 missions covering the border areaswith China on November 11, 1962, the independent National Security Archive said in a report based on the latestset of declassified documents it obtained from the CIA under the Freedom of Information Act.
