Justice R A Mehta's resignation may turn out to be an embarrassment for the Gujarat government, reports CNN IBN.

Justice Mehta reportedly refused to take up the post as the state government took such a long time to notify his appointment.

The Gujarat government, led by Narendra Modi, had filed a plea against Justice Mehta's appointment in the high court and then the Supreme Court. But both courts had upheld his appointment.
