The BJP today derided Defence Minister AK Antony for the statement he made in Parliament yesterday on the killing of the five Indian soldiers near the Line of Control at Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We have sent notice on breach of privilege to the Speaker," said the BJP's Yashwant Sinha, who described the Defence Minister's statement as "most laughable."

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath said, "There is no question of Defence Minister misleading the House. Those were facts that were available at the time he made that statement."

During a political uproar over the ambush of the Indian soldiers 200 kms south of Srinagar, the Defence Minister said in Parliament that "the ambush was carried out by approximately 20 heavily-armed terrorists along with persons dressed in Pakistan Army Uniforms." The statement absolved the Pakistani army from the attack. More
