The Taliban's reclusive leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, has warned against keeping US-led foreign troops in Afghanistan after the coalition's military mission ends next year, saying insurgents will fight on until all foreign soldiers go home.

"The occupying countries should learn from the bitter experiences of the past 12 years. They should not try their fate once more by prolonging the occupation or by establishing permanent bases,' Mullah Omar said Tuesday in a statement he releases annually ahead of the Islamic Eid al-Fitr holiday.
