The BSE benchmark index Sensex fell by nearly 106 points in early morning trade today on fresh selling in funds amid a weak trend in the Asian region.

The 30-share barometer, which had gained 18.24 points yesterday, fell 105.62 points, or 0.55  per cent, to 19,076.24 in the first few minutes of trading with realty, banking and consumer durable stocks leading the decline.

Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 49.20 points, or 0.87 per cent, to 5636.20.
Brokers said fresh selling by funds amid a weak trend on Asian bourses mainly influenced the trading sentiments here.

In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.99 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei was down 1.36 per cent in early trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.30 per cent lower in yesterday's trade.
