Defence Minister AK Antony's statement in Parliament begins on the LoC violation last night. "Government of India has lodged a strong protest with the government of Pakistan over the unprovoked attack. Our army is fully ready to tackle any situation that arises out of it. The government extends its full support to the families of the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice," said Antony.

Antony said the ambush was carried out by 20 men dressed in Pakistan army uniforms. "I assure the house that the Indian army is fully prepared," Antony reiterated. "The Army is fully ready to take all necessary steps to uphold the sanctity of LoC," he said.

Seventeen infiltration bids were foiled this year, said Antony, but there were over 40 incursions this year.
