The National Green Tribunal bars sand mining till there is a government clearance. The NBT has issued a notice to the chief secretaries of all states for August 14, saying the issue of illegal sand mining is of national importance.

Mining in Noida and Greater Noida may have been temporarily halted as a result of the crackdown by IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal.
