US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden leaves Moscow airport, his lawyer tells the BBC. His lawyer he has documents allowing him to leave the airport and acquire refugee status in Russia.

Earlier today, Snowden's father said that he was grateful to President Vladimir Putin and his government for protecting his son.
