Another Saradha depositor commits suicide

In the second suicide case in connection with the collapsed chit fund company Saradha, a money collection agent, who had deposited his personal savings of about Rs 4 lakh with the scam-ridden company, has committed suicide in Purulia district, police said.

Swapan Kumar Biswas, 36, was found hanging from the ceiling in house at Balrampur, 50 km from Purulia town. 

Police said he had deposited Rs 4 lakh from his personal savings in the Saradha group and was under severe distress after the news about the scam spread. 

Earlier 50-year-old Urmila Pramanik, a resident of Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district, who had invested Rs 30,000 in the Saradha group, set herself on fire on April 20 and succumbed to her injuries on April 21 in Chittaranjan Hospital in Kolkata after the Saradha group went bust.
