Vicky Nanjappa reports: Bahujan Samajwadi Party supremo Mayawati has alleged that the officials of the Election Commission had stopped her vehicle and checked it while she was on her way to Gulbarga in Karnataka for an election rally.

Mayawati alleged that her vehicle was stopped because she is a Dalit.

"Can the EC stop a vehicle that belongs to either Congress President Sonia Gandhi or BJP leader Sushma Swaraj," she asked.

Mayawati is scheduled to address a rally in Gulbarga today.

Though the party has been in the fray during the last two elections in the state, it is yet to win a seat.
