The Supreme Court is watching the controversial Punjabi film "Sadda Haq", which allegedly glorifies the era of extremism and its abettors before taking a call on the ban imposed by governments of Delhi, Punjab and the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Altamas Kabir and justices A R Dave and Vikramajit Sen is seeing the film in the Apex court precincts in the presence of senior advocates Fali S Nariman and Rajeev Dhavan before passing its order.

Two women advocates -- Indira Jaising, who is the Additional Solicitor General, and senior advocate Rebecca John -- are also present at the film screening.

They would assist the bench in the capacity of amicus curiae.

On April 11, the court had issued notices to Delhi and Punjab governments and the Union Territory of Chandigarh and sought their responses on a plea challenging the ban imposed by them on screening of the film.
