Defence Minister A.K Antony today said that negotiations are taking place at various levels to find a peaceful solution to the Chinese troops incursion issue. Antony's statement comes in the backdrop of Chinese soldiers entering Indian territory in the Depsang area of Ladakh.

India has asked China to maintain earlier status quo in Ladakh. Antony was briefed on Thursday by Chief of Army Staff General Bikram Singh about the latter's recent two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and the Ladakh area to review the security situation with commanders and officers of the army's Northern Command.

The Army has given its inputs to the Government and the National Security Advisor-headed China Study Group, which is handling the present situation in Ladakh. External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid while announcing his May 9 visit to China yesterday, also said that such incidents happen due to differences in perception of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
