Update on the rape of a five-year-old: Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in a statement to Parliament has said that an enquiry has been ordered to determine if police officials initially refused to help search for the child, and then offered a bribe to her parents to buy their silence when she was found three days after she was kidnapped.

He also said that rapes happen elsewhere in the country too and it was not Delhi centric. He said he had noted lapses in the system and the ACP who has slapped the woman protestor has been suspended.
