Delhi women afraid to protest

Only a handful of women took part in a protest calling for action on women's safety on Sunday evening, outside the Delhi hospital where a five-year-old rape victim is recovering from her injuries.


Many of the roughly 100 protesters, most of them men, gathered outside the state-run All India Institute of Medical Sciences, said they thought it was too dangerous for women to join the protests.  "Women are frightened or afraid to come here because the police pick on them,' said Faiz Khan, 32, a professor of political science at Sarguja University in Chhattisgarh state.
