Our correspondent from New Delhi reports: The buzz is that senior Central Bureau of Investigation officers are flashing a copy of the email allegedly sent by Joint Secretary to the prime minister, Shatruhan Singh, to the deputy inspector general of the agency, that indicates that the PMO has approved the draft status report on the Coal scam.

Will it blow up during the second half of the Budget session of Parliament, because it puts the prime minister in a tight spot. And will the joint secretary be sacrificed?

The man in question was the district collector of Faizabad during the 1992 Babri demolition crisis.
