Just in: The Supreme Court has refused to the extend the time for surrender of 1993 Bombay Blasts case convict Zaibunisa Kazi. She had appealed to the SC that her sentencing be kept in abeyance till the Maharashtra Governor or the President decide on her pardon. The SC says if this is allowed the President's home will be flooded with requests.

Zaibunissa's sentence of 5 years by the Bombay High court was upheld by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had said that all convicts should surrender within 4 weeks of its upholding the Bombay High Court judgement.

The verdict could likely affect Sanjay Dutt as well who has also appealed to the SC asking for surrender to be kept in abeyance till a decision is reached on his pardon. Dutt has to surrender by April 18.
