Cong will not protect anyone, Moily on Tytler

Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily today said the Congress would not protect anybody and the law would take its own course on senior party leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.

"Our heart goes out to the victims. We are not here to protect anybody. The law will take its own course," Moily told reporters here, while noting that the Congress leadership had owned up "moral responsibility" as far back as in 1985-86 itself on the anti-Sikh riots issue.

Moily, however, said the allegation against Tytler was not "as serious" as against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who had not taken a single step "to come clean" on the2002 riots in Gujarat.
