Iran has called for a boycott of the Oscars unless the Academy of Motion Picture  of Arts and Sciences condemns the anti-Islamic film that has sparked outraged in the Middle East.

The state-run media quoted Javad Shamaghdari, who leads Iran's government-controlled film agency, as saying that Iran should 'avoid' the Academy Awards until AMPAS denounces Innocence of Muslims, Politico reports.

The film has been held responsible for a wave of protests and attacks on US consulates overseas.
