A correspondent in Delhi reports: Union Finance minister P Chidambaram's family has finally bowed down to public pressure. They have agreed to demolish a wall which had allegedly encroached on land belonging to fishermen, in an area on the outskirts of Chennai.

The fishermen had lodged a complaint against Nalini Chidamabaram and Karthi Chidambaram a month ago. Based on the complaint, the Kanchipuram Revenue Department surveyed the area and was about to serve a notice. But Chidambaram's family has demolished the land before the notice was served.
