US consulate in Chennai resumes visa operations

PTI: After week-long closure in the backdrop of anti-US protests, the visa section of the US consulate in Chennai today resumed operations, with over 1,100 applicants thronging the consular office.

A consulate spokesperson said more than 1,100 applicants visited the office for their US visa appointments. This included the people whose appointments had been rescheduled last week following a wave of protests against an American film allegedly denigrating Islam.
