PM's reforms about good encomics, but are they good politics?

In his televised speech defending government reforms, Prime Minister Manmohab Singh made a credible economic case for the measures. But he failed to address the political dynamics that this bold action, late in his tenure as prime minister, has unleashed, writes Vivek Daheja in a blog in the New York Times.  

The measures might amount to good economics, but are they also good politics? Mr Singh left that question unanswered.
