PM to meet President to assure him of numbers

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet President Pranab Mukherjee this evening to discuss the current political situation.

The meeting comes in the wake of government's decisions on the economic front and the withdrawal of support by Trinamool Congress. During the one on one meeting, say sources, the Prime Minister is expected to assure the President that his government is safe on numbers.

The meeting is likely to take place at 5 pm, according to an NDTV report.
