India offers technology support to Turkmenistan

The government has assured Turkmenistan of all cooperation in the field of information and communications technology for mutual benefit. In his key note address at the inaugural session of TurkmenTEL 2012 at the Ashgabat (Turkmenistan capital) yesterday.

Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal emphasised the need for regional cooperation to uplift the social and economic status of the people in the region, according to an official release. "Sibal shared the success story of Indian telecom sector and gave an overview of the spectrum of policy initiatives in India's National Telecom Policy 2012," the release said. 

The Minister said India could extend cooperation to Turkmenistan in the fields of e-health, e-education and e-governance services.
