Shinde briefs CCPA on situation in Assam

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde tonight briefed the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) about the situation in Assam which had witnessed ethnic violence recently. 

Shinde is learnt to have apprised the CCPA, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, about the steps taken by the government in rehabilitating the victims of the violence between Bodos and Muslim immigrants in some districts of Assam. 

Nearly five lakh people were affected by the violence that had broken out in Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts Chirang, Dhubri and Kokrajhar in late July.
