Diesel, LPG price hike likely today

Financial Express reports: Prices of diesel, LPG and kerosene may be raised from Tuesday when the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) meets.

Though the listed agenda for the CCPA meeting is to discuss the BJP boycott of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, sources said the Petroleum Ministrys comprehensive proposal on various pricing options could be circulated at the meeting itself.

Another pointer for the issue being slipped-in at Tuesdays meeting is that Petroleum Minister S Jaipal Reddy on Monday sent out an eight-page backgrounder on the current financial crisis of the state-run oil marketing companies to all the ministers who are members of the CCPA.

A formal announcement of listing of the pricing issue creates a scamper for topping up tanks, both by consumers and retail outlet owners to save and make money, respectively.
