Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has announced that his party, the Janata Dal (United) will campaign against CM Narendra Modi in Gujarat during the upcoming polls. Nitish said the JD(U) will have no alliance with BJP in Gujarat.  The Bihar and Gujarat CMs have been involved in the battle of words ever since Nitish Kumar became CM.

In June,  a day after Modi had observed that the 'casteist' leaders had pushed Bihar to economic backwardness, his Nitish Kumar asked the former to look at his situation instead of making comments on others. "One should think about one's own situation (Bihar par tippani karne walon ko apne halaat ke bare me sochana chahiye)", he said.

The JD(U) is an NDA ally.
