Cartoonist Aseem Trivedi has been sent to judicial custody till September 24. While the Mumbai police surrendered custody, Trivedi maintained that he would not seek bail unless the sedition charges against him were dropped.

Unless the government decides to drop the sedition charges against the cartoonist, he is likely to remain in jail since he will not apply for bail.

"I am proud of what I have done and will continue to do it," Trivedi said while being taken to court earlier today.

Trivedi had in one cartoon depicted four wolves in place of the lions on the national emblem, the Ashoka pillar, blood in the mouth of the beasts and the caption read Bhrashtameva Jayate (corruption shall prevail) instead of Satyameva Jayate (truth shall prevail).
