UP govt in Kumbh TV plan pickle

Move over cricket commercialisation. If the UP government has its way, the revered Kumbh Mela in Allahabad would be telecast 24X7 only on one TV channel.And there is no guarantee of a highlights show on another channel later in the day.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is exploring the option of giving the telecast and advertisement rights of the Maha Kumbh Mela to a particular company, much to the dislike of religious groups. Read more
