State govt assures Hindi news channels protection from MNS

The Maharashtra government has assured protection to Hindi news channels from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena after party chief Raj Thackeray threatened that he knew how to "deal with them".

Alleging that Hindi news channels were distorting his statements, Thackeray on Sunday said they should not air news without understanding these issues.

Speaking at a party meeting in Mumbai, he said, "I want to tell the Hindi news channel to first understand the issue before it is broadcast ...otherwise we know how to deal with it."
