One person was killed and several persons were injured when police used batons and burst tear gas shells to disperse agitators belonging to Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric- JVM) at the Birsa Chowk in Ranchi.

The activists and leaders of the JVM were agitating at Birsa Chowk, a short distance from the state Assembly, in support of a charter of demands.

The agitation was announced recently by JVM president and Lok Sabha MP Babulal Marandi to put pressure on the Arjun Munda government on a charter of demands, including addressing the long-standing displacement issue.
