Alleging that all questions related to coal department have been removed from Parliament website, BJP today accused the Congress of trying to hide the truth about the "coal scam" said said it will lodge a complaint with Rajya Sabha Chairman.

"Congress party is now trying to hide the truth about coal scam and have removed all questions related to coal department from Parliament website, this shows their mindset," party's national spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

The BJP MP said that he will lodge a complaint with Rajya Sabha Chairman, claiming that the questions in which the government had admitted that the steel and power plants for which the coal blocks were allocated had not started production were removed from the web site.

Five people were killed after a compound wall of a temple collapsed in Amravati< Maharashtra on Sunday night. Ten to 12 people are still trapped in debris, reports CNN-IBN.

22:11   India beat Cameroon on penalties to win Nehru Cup
India won the Nehru Cup final at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in New Delhi on Sunday.

The men in blue beat Cameroon 5-4 (2-2) on penalties.

After both teams were tied 2-2 despite 120 minutes, Robin Singh, Sunil Chhetri, Denzel Franco, Mehtab Hossain and Clifford Miranda scored from the spot.

20:39   Raj slams Hindi channels for 'distorting' speech
Alleging that Hindi news channels were 'distorting' his statements, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray today said that they should not air the news without understanding the issues.    

Speaking at a party meeting here today, Thackeray said that "I want to tell the Hindi news channel to first understand the issue before it is broadcast... otherwise we know how to stop it,".    

The MNS leader's reaction comes after some Hindi news channels and leaders of the JD-U, RJD and BJP from Bihar attacked him for his remarks on August 31 that he would brand Biharis as infiltrators and make them leave Maharashtra.    

"Why do all criminals flee to states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand after committing crime here," he asked and commented that governments from these states shouldintrospect over it. "Even the Centre should think over the issue," he said.     

Raj also ridiculed Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh's claim that the Thackerays migrated from Bihar to Maharashtra.

19:03   Czeck pistol case: Ex-Union minister Arun Nehru summonded
A Delhi court has summoned former Union minister Arun Nehru to appear before it on September 15, in connection with a case about the 1988 pistol purchase deal for the army, reports NDTV.

The court had earlier issued summons to Mr Nehru and B P Singhal, for August 30 but later granted them exemption from personal appearance for that day. Arun Nehru was then a minister of state, home and B P Singhal, the then additional secretary in the ministry of home affairs. The court rejected the Central Bureau of Investigation's closure report which had stated that nothing incriminating could be found against Nehru.

Now the court has fixed September 15, as the next date of hearing in the case.

18:38   TN official suspended for allowing SL team to play
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today suspended a stadium officer here for allowing a Sri Lankan football team to play a friendly tie,terming it as an insult to Tamils and directed that the team be sent back home.   

"The (Nehru) Stadium Officer has no authority to allow matches there and only the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu is authorised to do so. By using an authority thatdid not exist, the official had demeaned the sentiments of Tamil people," she said.   

Jayalalithaa directed Chief Secretary Debendranath Sarangito place the Nehru Stadium Official under suspension and initiate department-level proceedings against him.

17:14   BJP has no right to ask PM to quit: Coal minister
Hitting back at the Bharatiya Janata Party who sharpened its attack against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the coal block allocation case, Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal said, "The BJP has no right to ask the PM to quit. The CMs of Gujarat, Chhattisgarh must resign."    

Accusing the BJP for stalling the Parliament he said, "We want a full debate on the coal issue, but the BJP is afraid."

16:23   Raj Thackeray is a publicity seeker: Bihar CM
Slamming the Maharashtra Navirman Sena chief for his anti-Bihar remarks, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said, "Raj Thackeray is just a publicity seeker. He has no authority to challenge the people of Bihar."

He said that the Maharashtra government must act against the MNS chief. Earlier in the day Maharashtra Home minister RR Patil assured that Thackeray's speech on Friday in which he made anti-Bihari remarks will be looked into.

"The entire speech has been recorded and will be checked word by word. If there is anything objectionable, we will take relevant action against him [Thackeray]," Patil said.    

Thackeray's 'infiltrators' remarks created a furore in Bihar with political parties on Saturday asking the Centre to take strong action against him.

15:52   Cong-BJP activists clash outside Jaiswal's house
At least a dozen activists of BJP and Congress were today injured in a clash which broke out during the main opposition party's protest outside Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal's residence in Kanpur over the coal block allocation issue.   

Led by party leader Kalraj Mishra, BJP activists marched towards the Pokharpur residence of Jaiswal to stage a protest there over the issue of coal block allocation.   

The protesting BJP activists, however, were stopped at a barricade set up by police about 200 metres from Jaiswal's residence. Sources claimed the move of BJP activists to paint the posters of Jaiswal in black angered the Congress workers who were present there.

After a heated argument, a clash broke outbetween the workers of both political parties.

15:21   Coal-gate: Congress, BJP ready for talks
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today said that her party will allow discussions in Parliament only if the government cancels the coal block allocations and orders an independent probe on the allotments. Swaraj said that she was conveyed her demands to Congress President Sonia Gandhi in a telephonic conversation, reports NDTV.

Gandhi, who is away from the country for a medical check-up, has appointed Home Minister and leader in the Lok Sabha Sushil Kumar Shinde to hold further talks with the BJP over the impasse in Parliament.

Shinde has reportedly told Swaraj that the two demands of her party are difficult to accept. According to reports, the UPA top brass including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who returned to India from a summit in Iran earlier this week, is discussing a solution to end the deadlock in Parliament.

15:18   Al Qaeda mag brain-washed youths held in K'taka
Investigators probing the terror module busted in Karnataka have claimed that the arrested 11 youths were inspired by the contents of an online magazine which glorifies activities of the Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.   

Sources in a joint team of central security agencies comprising officials of Intelligence Bureau and RAW conducting the probe claimed today that during questioning of the arrested people it has emerged they had been apparently indoctrinated to join the terror module by various inflammatory speeches uploaded on Internet and writings in the magazine of the sleeper cell of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Tayiba.   

The arrested include a journalist working with a prominent newspaper in Bangalore and a junior research fellow of premier Defence Research and Development Organisation.    

The arrested persons have spoken extensively about an online magazine -- Inspire -- linked to the Al Qaeda and published from somewhere in Yemen where articles relate towards drawing youth to an "armed war" against Americans, India, Israel and other Western countries who have allied with the US in Afghanistan, the sources said.

14:18   PM must resign over coal-gate, says Sushma Swaraj
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj slammed the Congress-led UPA government once again in a protest conference in Mumbai, where she was protesting against the Centre. Swaraj said  that the coal-gate is the biggest scam in India's history, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has to resign over it. "It seems like the scams by the UPA government are competing against each other," she said.

"Talks with Sonia Gandhi over Parliament logjam were inconclusive. I told her discussion in Parliament can happen only after all coal block allocations are cancelled and an independent probe is announced. It is not true that we have climbed down from our demand of the PM's resignation. We are determined on that demand," said Swaraj.

10:09   PLA training Maoists, says home secretary
China's People's Liberation Army is training Maoist cadres, Home Secretary RK Singh said in New Delhi on Saturday.

Speaking to ANI in wake of the recent haul of sophisticated M-16 rifles from the Maoists, Singh said, "We have information that Maoists are in touch with PLA also. PLA also trained them. M-16 rifles have been used by the Maoists in northeast."

"Such American origin rifles have been using by them. They were also using M-13. They got these rifles from southeastern countries like Thailand. Overall the situation is that we have much stronger weapons than them," he added.

10:04   India, China to resume army exercises from next year
India and China are expected to resume their bilateral military exercises from next year and a decision in this regard is likely to be taken during the five-day visit of Chinese Defence Minister Gen Liang Guanglie. 

During Gen Liang's visit starting Monday, the two sides will discuss about having more Confidence Building Measures and ways of strengthening their military ties, a senior official of the defence ministry said in New Delhi.

"We are planning to resume the army-to-army exercise 'Hand-in-Hand' from next year and a final decision in this regard would be taken at the meeting between Gen Liang Guanglie and his Indian counterpart A K Antony," the official said.
