Hurricane Sandy 110 miles southeast of Atlantic City

CNN reports: Hurricane Sandy retained its strength on Monday afternoon (EDT) with 90 mph sustained winds, the National Hurricane Centre reports in its 4 pm advisory.

Moving northwest at 28 mph, the storm is centered 110 miles southeast of Atlantic City, New Jersey, and 175 miles south-southeast of New York City.

Hurricane-force wind gusts - in excess of 74 mph - have been reported along the coast of Long Island, New York, according to the National Weather Service.
