CNN IBN reports that the pilot and crew will be replaced and the same aircraft will fly to Kochi. If you've just joined us, here's an update on the Air India Express hijack scare.

The pilot of the Abu Dhabi-Kochi Air India Express flight sent a hijack message to airport officials at Thiruvananthapuram this morning after passengers allegedly tried to force their way into the cockpit. The flight, which was headed from Abu Dhabi to Kochi was diverted suddenly to Thiruvananthapuram because of fog and technical issues.

Enraged passengers allegedly tried to force their way into the cockpit to protest against the re-routing; they said they had not been informed about the diversion.

Passengers also said they had not been treated properly. The plane, which landed at 6 am, has not yet taken off and neither have the passengers deplaned.
