Former Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrashekhar who has deposed
before the Joint Parliamentary Committee that is probing the 2G spectrum
case has hinted that the finance ministry was behind the note sent to P Chidambaram. Chandrashekhar is believed to have told the JPC that the note was
solely the prerogative of the ministry then headed by Pranab Mukherjee
and that he had no hand in it. The ministry though had said the note was
prepared for the PMO at the cabinet secretariat's behest. Chandrashekhar said he saw the note that said Chidambaram could've stopped the 2G scam.
