Cauvery water row: Monitoring panel to meet today

The Cauvery Monitoring Committee (CMC) will meet in New Delhi today to bring about a consensus between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over sharing of the waters of the Cauvery River.

The committee comprises of the officials from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Ministry of Water Resources. On Wednesday, the Tamil Nadu Government filed a contempt petition against Karnataka in the Supreme Court over its decision to stop the release of water from Cauvery River to the state.
