Modi happy with poll dates, code of conduct

A correspondent from Delhi reports: Soon after the Chief Election Commissioner announced the dates for the Gujarat polls, Chief Minister Narendra Modi seemed to be the happiest person.

His first reaction to the poll date and the Model Code of Conduct, which will be enforced for 83 days, was that it was a blessing in disguise.   

This is the first time that political candidates will have to follow the Model Code of Conduct for such a long time, but Modi has taken it in his stride and stated that it will help him have a leisurely poll campaign.   

"Take any state which had such a long MCC," was his cryptic comment
