Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat will go to polls in November and December respectively.

2nd phase: November 23, 2012

Last day for nomination (phase 1): November 24, 2012
Last day for nomination (phase 2): November 30, 2012
Scrutiny of nominations (Phase 1): November 26, 2012
Scrutiny of nominations (Phase 2): December 1, 2012
Last day for withdrawal (Phase 1): November 28, 2012
Last day for withdrawal (Phase 2): November 30, 2012

Date of polls (Phase 1): December 13, 2012
Date of polls (Phase 2): December 17, 2012
Counting of votes: December 20, 2012

Schedule for Himachal Pradesh (one phase)

Issue of notification: October 10, 2012

Last day for nomination: October 17, 2012
Scrutiny of nominations: October 18, 2012
Last day for withdrawal: October 20, 2012
Date of polls: November 4, 2012
Counting of votes: December 20, 2012

The dates were announced by the Election Commission on Wednesday.

The terms of Gujarat and Himachal assemblies come to an end on January 17, 2013 and January 10, 2013 respectively

While Gujarat has 182 Assembly constituencies, 13 of which are reserved for SCs and 26 for STs, Himachal Pradesh has 68 Assembly seats, with 17 reserved for SCs and 3 for STs.

While Gujarat has 3.78 crore voters, Himachal has 45 lakh people eligible to vote in the assembly elections
