US rejects call for its UN ambassador to quit
October 02, 2012  00:38
The Obama administration is rejecting a demand from a senior Republican lawmaker for the US ambassador to the United Nations to resign. Republican Peter King has said Susan Rice's explanation of the September 11 attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was a foreign policy failure.

King chairs the House committee on homeland security. He told CNN that Rice should resign. Rice said five days after the attack that there was no evidence it was premeditated. Officials now say it was a planned terrorist attack distinct from protests over a film deemed offensive to Islam.
