Crucial DMK meeting in Chennai today

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is scheduled to hold an emergency executive meeting in Chennai on Monday to discuss the arrest of some of its leaders and other alliance issues.

The meet takes place against the backdrop of the lookout notice against Karunanidhi's grandson DMK leader and union Minister Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi in an illegal granite mining case.

The meeting is to counter what it calls the AIADMK's political vendetta against its leaders ahead of the parliamentary polls. A number of DMK leaders have been booked in land grabbing cases after the AIADMK came to power last year in Tamil Nadu.

Union Minister Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi is wanted in an illegal granite mining case in Madurai. Earlier, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court bench dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Union Minister MK Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi on Tuesday in connection with the illegal granite quarrying case.
