Back to Freedom Park, Bangalore, where BS Yeddyurappa is concluding his speech.

"Forty years ago when I was part of the Town Municipal Council, an opponent. assaulted me. I was taken to hospital and when I woke up, I told my wife that from now on, I would live for the people of Karnataka.
"But today, I feel assaulted by my party men. But they cannot kill me and today,  I say the same thing -- I will live for the people of the state," he says.

Yeddyurappa also defended himself in the mining issue. "I am not a criminal. I was the one who banned illegal mining. I will come out clean and prove my innocence. "I will write it in blood and assure you of a great state.

"Please join me in my rally. I will go directly to Vidhan Soudha now, but don't follow me all the way and let us not shout anti-BJP slogans and let us not trouble the police. There should not be any traffic jams," he said.
