Sheila Dikshit undergoes angioplasty

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today underwent an angioplasty procedure at a private hospital here following blockage in one of her arteries.

The angioplasty procedure was carried out on 74-year-old Dikshit at the Fortis Escorts Heart Institute where she was admitted last night following uneasiness and throat infection.

Dr Ashok Seth, chairman of Cardiac Sciences in the Hospital performed the angioplasty on Dikshit. Angioplasty is a non-surgical procedure which is performed for widening blocked arteries and improve blood circulation.

"She is fine fine now," a close aide of Dikshit said.
