India Today reports that Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah's uncle Mustafa Kamal has said that Afzal Guru has been convicted for being a Muslim. Guru is the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist convicted of the December 2001 attack on the Parliament.

Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, the younger brother of Union minister Farooq Abdullah had sparked off a massive outrage on November 12, when he said Kashmiris were closer to Pakistan. Calling India the enemy, Kamal alleged, "Time and again India has backtracked from its no war pact with Pakistan."

This is what Omar Abdullah had tweeted then.
"They say never work with animals & children. I think it's safe to add relatives to that list as well."
