FB probe report: Arrest of girls UNJUSTIFIED

The IG Konkan has submitted the probe report on the arrest of two girls over the controversial Facebook post on Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray. The report was submitted to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today. The two girls from Palghar were arrested after one of them posted a new status on her Facebook account denouncing the Mumbai shutdown after Thackeray's death and the other 'liked' it.

The report has said that the charges against the students should be dropped and action taken against the police for arresting the girls. The report also states that the local police defied orders in arresting the girls.
