November 22, 2012  11:13
Just before the session opened, the TMC handed over a no-confidence motion against the UPA regime to Speaker Meira Kumar. TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee has asked all her party MPs to be present in the Lok Sabha.

The TMC, which broke away from the UPA2 in September, has 19 members in the Lok Sabha, and Mamata has been harnessing support (even with her arch rival the CPI(M)) for a no-trust motion on FDI in retail. 'I am prepared to go to the CPI-M state party headquarters in Alimuddin Street and talk to their secretary Biman Bose,' she had said in Kolkata yesterday.

However, the government is confident that she will not get the numbers. The UPA2 has just 18 months left in office. The Lok Sabha polls are in 2014.
