Bharatiya Janata Party veteran L Krishna Advani said Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray's demise has left a gaping void in the country's politics, which will not be easy to fill, reports ANI.

"A political giant has departed. It's rare that I have seen in these 65 years of Independent India a political leader who has left such a deep and abiding imprint on the country... as Shri Balasaheb Thackeray. Uncompromising in his patriotism, he possessed remarkable qualities of leadership and abundance of attributes of head and heart which made him command great respect among all those who came in his contact. I can only say that his demise today has left a gaping void in the country''s politics, which will not be easy to fill," said in his condolence message.

Advani further informed that he would be going to Mumbai tomorrow to pay his last respects to the Shiv Sena patriarch."I have been told by my colleagues in Bombay, Gopinath Munde and others, that his body would be kept at the Shivaji Park for the whole day tomorrow and the final rites will be performed at around 5 (pm). So, we will be going to Bombay," he added.
