November 12, 2012  13:49
Activist-turned politician Arvind Kejriwal on Monday accused the Congress-led UPA Government of trying to suppress the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

"The government wants to make CAG its agent.  The selection process of the CAG should be independent from politics and should be investigated," said Kejriwal, while lashing out at the government over the proposal to make the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) a multi-member body.

"We think that the government suggestion to make CAG a multi-member body shows their intension are very bad. The government is trying to weaken CAG by making it multi-member," he added.

Kejriwal, whose new political party will be christened on November 26, further said the CAG should be completely independents of politicians.
